Please indulge me today, as I introduce you to my new book:
“Forget It! What’s the Point? Letting Go and Claiming Joy”
I launched it last week on social media and will soon be trekking all over the place on my book tour, reading, talking, listening and helping people to explore their own stories of holding on and letting go.
A few people have asked me:
“Is this a business book Marguerite?”
“Well it isn’t, and it is …sort of” I reply.
Only 1 of my 21 stories in the book have anything to do with business BUT, I do think that the principle of questioning what you are holding on to and why, is important in freeing oneself to be the most amazing leader, and to live the most joyful life. I shared this perspective with a CEO last week: that I can bet at least 50% of the people problems he deals with are because people DON’T forget it – they hold on to what happened, who did what to them, who said what and so on. Sometimes the things they are holding on to did not even happen at their current workplace! But they drag the baggage with them wherever they go, and then wonder why they are miserable. My CEO nodded vociferously, adding with a chuckle: “It’s way more than 50% Marguerite!”
Through this blog, and my coaching and facilitation, I am committed to helping you be joyful, in particular at work. Being joyful is a thing of wonder and magic – I wish it for everyone. But you have to do the work … and it starts with letting go. So, try this: the next time something or someone is bothering you, ask yourself “What’s the point?” And if there’s no point, or it’s insignificant in the scheme of things, FORGET IT!
Do check out my book here – and leave a comment to let us know what you are letting go of!
